Yup rainy weekend but here it is Sunday evening and the rain appears to be gone for the next few days and it is hot and humid. It is supposed to real hot and humid by Wednesday, what a roller coaster we are on.
It was the Ottawa Marthon Race weekend.
The annual Ottawa Race Weekend is huge. With 5,100 entrants this year, its marathon is the biggest in Canada by far. With close to 40,000 participants in five races over two days, it's second only to Vancouver's Sun Run in sheer scale. It's a sellout again this year, as it invariably is.
I spent a couple of hours on the course this morning watching at about the 26km mark. Picture #1 is the group of leaders all from Africa, just can't catch those folks. Picture #2 was just one of many packs of runners running with Pace Bunnies. What is a Pace Bunny you ask (so did I). A Pace Bunny is a runner wearing Bunny Ears that runs at a planned arrival time for the finish, say 3 hours and 30 minutes. Less experienced runners stay with this runner who sets a pace to finish in that time period, very neat and very organized. Lots of people linning various parts of the course cheering on the runners.
This is a great very well organized event, lots of interesting fun as a spectator.
