Today CT and I were off to the Daytona Shooting range.
Nice outdoor facility, $10 admission and a well run well controlled shooting environment .
The shooting line works under the watchful eye of a range master.
You stand up to a shooting position, place your weapons on the table, set up you ammuntion and magazines.
When the horn sounds you unload your weapon open the breach place the weapon on the table and step back over a yellow line. The range master walks the line and checks for no magazine in the weapon and that the breach is open. Once he clears the line you are not allowed to step back over the line to the weapons until the line is cleared to start fire. In the mean time once the line is clear you can head out to the range to change your tragets.
I was shooting a 380 Keltec, a small pocket handgun, 6 shots, very light weight not great sights, more of a point and shoot close range gun. I managed to hit a large number of the target paper. This little gun is small with a big kick and hard bite.
I later chnaged to a Smith and Wesson 9MM police 911, big heavy, nice sights, easy to hold steady and shoot, this is my shooting choice but it is certainly not a good concealed weapon.
I hit a lot of targets with the 9mm, nice gun to shoot with.
We spent an hour and a half at the range, I shot about 150 rounds, all good fun, I hope to go back if invited.
Off for a good lunch and a pint at the airport, great spot on a nice day to sit watch planes and chat.
We returned to CT's home and cleaned guns, a good education.
I enjoyed the day a great deal.
