Dan's New Ride! |
Some of the Ride Group! |
Just remember you are in Florida! |
Well I have continued to work my butt off around the new home but I am finally happy with the current outcome. Now my to do list can be done on an as I feel like it basis.
Time to play.
Yesterday I rode with the Daytona HOG of fellow riders.
To start with what a nice day sunny warm day we all enjoyed.
To me this makes my return to Florida from Canada at this time of the year one
of the many reasons I love to be here.
Now I must say I was one of the first people at the Beach
Street location for the ride start and I was beginning to worry when it was
8:45, Dan was the only other person waiting with me. Thankfully Dan’s
new bike is so unique that we spent a bunch of time looking it over.
Slowly a few more folks arrived and we were all standing
around wondering if our intrepid Road captain in the form of Don was
planning to arrive, Don is often first at the start of the ride. Shortly before
9:00am both Don and Linda arrived.
Don in his usual demeanor set up the ride group, a 1 hour
ride to Leesburg stretched out to 1:45 with a pick-up in Glenwood. Off we went
following our pied piper RC complete with a trail of cigar smoke to smell and follow.
We toured around the back streets, back of the airport on streets I had never
been on before, down a nice treed covered road along a big lake and before we
knew it were at the Gator Harley Davidson Dealer in Leesburg. For those of us
who attend Biketoberfest and Bike Week the vendor participation could only be
described as minimal. We enjoyed a cold wet drink and wandered around the
grounds, it certainly was not overcrowded. Lots of events were scheduled for
the rally and it meant moving around to participate, we did not so we really
only did a one site visit.
Next off for the real reason we all ride, EAT, so to
Hurricanes for lunch. I turned around
and Don and Linda were gone, I am told off to reserve tables, thanks guys but
we all found you, nice location, standard Pub food and so, so service. The
lunch company was great.
Next stop saw us heading past gator Harley Davidson one more
time. As it turned out this was a good thing. Buddy Lou announces over the
radio that his alternator light is on. A quick turn into the dealership and the
service department took the bike right
away. Looks like a voltage regulator, about an hour’s time in and around the
shop. The group kind of broke up at this point and the folks headed off in all
different directions.
Thanks Don, great day, nice ride and always an adventure.
