BIG Day

It was a BUSY Bike Week Day
I met up with a group of Ottawa HOG members who had arrived in Daytona the night before after they endured an adventurous long trip down from the north.
It was a late morning meeting so not a big rush type of day.
Don took the group off to New Smyrna Harley Davidson where some quick shopping/browsing took place, I don't think much was bought. In past years this was a busy Bike Week location but no longer, very quiet. The group really was not interested in Bike Week so much as wanting to ride so off for lunch. Friend Shirley wanted to be on the water and go to one of the locations I have chatted about in this blog. To Off The Hook we went. Off The Hook turned out to be a big hit, the food is good, the price is fair and you get to sit waterside on the St John's river. After lunch two couples from the Melbourne area decided to head straight home. The rest of the group wanted to ride so off we went. I rode them along nice tree covered roads, past big homes, into horse country, along two lane highways, around part of the loop (more tree covered riding, down along the ocean and back along the inland waterway. The group had a chance to see just about all of the best parts of this area of Florida in two hours. I had to leave the group along the inter-coastal being I was committed to a charity ride.
The ride for RUFF is f or the local Humane Society. It is a Police escorted ride which means you sail right through the route, stop lights and all with no stops. The Police do a great jog with these rides. Unfortunately on this ride one of our 4 wheeled drivers did not yield to a Police Office and he was struck by a pick-up truck. The office is reported to have suffered minor injuries.
Oh the ride, it turned out to be a long ride, over 1 hour on the bikes, lots of participants, a great turn out. The ride terminated a local Biker Bar that was just jumping. Part of the ride was a BBQ pulled Pork meal with the trimmings (UM Good, may not eat Beef Tips at this location again)  and a couple of adult beverages.
What a good fun deal, I plan to do this again next year!
It was well into darkness before I hit home for a shower and some TV time.
Busy day and lots of fun.
