Volunteer Day

My assigned hole!

Well I spent the day at a local golf course working as a volunteer for the 2011 Quebec Junior Golf Championship. The age groupings were 8 years to 18 years and let me tell you some of the young people can play golf. The low score for the boys junior was a 66, that is some good shooting.
I spent the entire day working as a spotter on a hole where there was some heavy ground under repair, it turned out to be a good spot. I had a cart and could easily move around, I had a radio that stopped working after a while and lots of water. At lunch time I was spelled off for a break and lunch.
I had to call in for 4 rules official rulings, fun, I learned as did the competitors. The last call for a rules offical was a bit of a stress, the radio had stopped working so I finally got my hands on a score card which had the clubs telephone number on it. I called the club house, they found a radio and sent out a rules offical, this took about 20 minutes. We had the entire golf course backed up, what are you going to do.
It was a good day but I am happy not to be going back today.
Some of these volunteer type people seem to be there for all events, it is there life, good for them the world needs them.
Oh yes I was given a shirt and a hat with breakfast and lunch for my 11 hours on the course, gosh I work cheap.

Hey John - I'm not sure if you are using the new style blog for editing but I noticed this morning that when you go into design there is now a favicon option on the top - you were asking me how I put favicons on my blog (the picture next to the blog address) well it looks like blogger does it for you now. Cheers
