Christmas at the Black Cloud! |
What a day, it started out cool but quickly warmed up into the high 70's.
It was a ride day, the destination St Augustine, the Gander Mountain store for a bit of shopping.
I was looking for some footwear shown in the online site but as it turns out not carried in the store, oh well!
For the Ride buddy CT took the lead, what could have been a 40 minute ride north turned into a scenic two hour loop to St Augustine. What a nice ride we all enjoyed. At one point we were riding along the St John's river, just before seeing the river the air temperature dropped about 10 degrees, just like crossing line. We had no idea we were approaching the river, the temperature drop was a direct result of the water temperature, very dramatic.
We continued on to our first location, Gander Mountain. This is a big store for the outdoors person. After shopping around for a while and a couple of small purchases we decided on lunch. I loaded up my GPS (Crazy Ivan) so we could head to the Conch House for lunch, what a great spot on a nice warm sunny day for sitting on the deck and enjoying lunch along with a bit of piped in Reggie Music ( http://www.conch-house.com/ ). The place was all but empty so we had choice seats, it was real nice, all of the food was great, the place is a bit higher end the usual biker bars we often frequent, the prices reflect that but it was not to bad for a great stop.
Now mid afternoon we headed to a spot I had not been before, the Black Cloud bar and grill. It is a big old hunt camp/lodge on the hwy. 1. Good cold cheap beer, the old lodge walls are covered in old hunting trophy heads. One more good spot!
Now the sun is setting so off towards home we head after changing from sunglasses to clear eyeglasses.
I arrived home just before dark.
What a great day, I was early to bed.
Lots more to come for sure.
